Rules and Guidelines for Play due to COVID-19 (Until Further Notice)
Beginning May 26, 2020:
Regular doubles play for members on all courts that are not being used for instruction. Members should continue to use the open gated court 1 to enter and leave the courts, and refrain from congregating on or next to the courts.

All members assume all risks and liabilities associated with playing tennis at Bayley Beach (RTA)

No members will be allowed in the pro shop

No lingering or gathering at the tennis venue

No sitting on benches, couches, or chairs

Only the gates at court 1 and 5 will be open, so that people don’t touch the common gate surfaces

All play will be “use and handle your own tennis balls” for members

No guests
-
Use your rackets to move balls from player to player

Refrain from touching any tennis balls that are not your own

To minimize interactions and movement around the courts, players should refrain from switching sides as they normally would in a match
Standard Rules

Only current RTA members in good standing and their invited non-resident guests can play on RTA courts.

Payment for lessons and interclub teams is the responsibility of the individual member. In order to enroll in a tennis lesson, clinic or Interclub team, RTA annual dues must be paid.

Rowayton residents are not permitted to play as guests. An exception is a prospective member, who can play as a guest with permission from the RTA Membership Chair.

Only current RTA members in good standing can book courts or receive paid instruction of any kind, including all lessons and clinics whether scheduled in advance or drop-in.

All players must wear shoes designated for tennis. No running shoes or marking sole shoes allowed at any time as the Har-Tru courts can be easily damaged by improper footwear.

Proper tennis attire must be worn. Colored garments are acceptable.

Respectable conduct is to be observed by all players on all courts at all times.

Players must play on the court assigned to them.

Court Availability

Weather permitting, courts will be available for play to members and their guests beginning the first week in May. Courts will remain open until late October (weather permitting).

During the season, courts will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM.

The Director of Tennis or court supervisor retains the right to close the courts as needed.

Club clinics, lessons, and special tennis events will be given priority court time on tennis courts 3 and 4. Lessons and clinics should be booked online through the court booking website.
Reservation Procedures

Only paid current members in good standing can reserve courts.

Courts can be booked on our booking site no more than 48 hours in advance.

Doubles play can be reserved for 1 ½ hours; Singles play 1 hour.

RTA members can reserve Court 5.
